The net and education

In the academic world (academic links)

In medical education in Edinburgh (eemec, MCQs, CAL)

The net and medicine

For medical professionals (medical links)

For patients (why?)

.... so should we teach it? (We do - 2yO)

The net in Edinburgh hospitals

Who has websites? (incomplete list)

Who can get access to it? (map and addresses)

Patient information and the net: why bother?

We can tell our patients all the information they need

None of our patients use the 'net'  .... or do they

The 'net' is full of rubbish anyway .... examples

This a bad way to communicate information

Making web pages is far too complicated ... no it's not

We're much too busy to waste time on this sort of thing

Who uses the internet?

82% of doctors online? (www.roysocmed.ac.uk/press.htm)
69% 16-24 years online
6% over 75 years
(Office for National Statistics)
UK now leads Europe with 30.8% of households now linked to the internet
